February 2016 Records Of The Week

Our first Record Of The Week for February 2016 was the Almighty version of the world famous 'I Believe I Can Fly'. This was first released in 1996 by R Kelly and became his most successful song, topping charts across the globe. The track has cemented itself as a part of pop culture, appearing in numerous film and TV soundtracks over the past 20 years. Handing the reigns over to the incredible Amanda Abbs, the track transitioned from an emotional RnB ballad to a foot-stomping party anthem! Originally released as a low-quality download, 'I Believe I Can Fly' has now been fully reloaded and is now available for purchase!
A must have for all soulful R Kelly lovers!

Week two's Record Of The Week was Yazz's ultimate 80's Party Anthem - 'The Only Way Is Up' which was brilliantly reworked by The Kinky Boyz back in 1999. This updated single contains all the well-loved mixes of 1999 and an additional 3 mixes: the Almighty 7" Anthem Mix, Almighty 12" Anthem Mix and Almighty Anthem Dub, sure to get everyone on their feet! Almighty's 'The Only Way Is Up' features Angie Brown's diva vocals, best known for featuring on Bizarre Inc's two hits 'I'm Gonna Get You' and 'Took My Love' in the early 90's. A blend of Angie's vocals and Almighty production, transform this song into a catchy dance-floor classic!

Karen Lambert's 'Firestone' was the third Record Of The Week for February. The original song shot to Number One in the UK Dance Chart after it's release by Sony in December 2014. Our Almighty revamp has shown its popularity as one of our top-selling singles of 2016! It grew to become one of the standout songs from 2015 and was also covered by the famous singer and songwriter Birdy for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. We first heard 'Firestone' playing in the Almighty office and loved the catchy melody, deciding to add Lambert's vocals and Almighty production to bring life back into this amazing track!

Our current Record Of The Week is a personal favourite of ours, selecting it to open our latest compilation 'We Love The 80's'. Originally released by The KLF in 1989, '3am Eternal' soon became an international hit. It topped the charts in the UK and reached an impressive No. 5 spot on the US Billboard! Various releases over the next few years lead The KLF to becoming the internationally biggest-selling singles band of 1991. After the announcement in 1992 that 'The KLF had now left the music business,' within a few months, they did just that - their records were deleted and remain hard-to-find collectable classics. Then in 2014 we at Almighty, released our own version of the song - with the hard-hitting production of the People Of 'K' and the gorgeous vocals of Crystal, this single is guaranteed to light up dance-floors! The original vibrant energy that was so special remains intact and with six fantastic mixes to fall in love with!
