Without a doubt, Quartzlock's 'No Regrets' is a true Hi-NRG classic, a much respected gay anthem and a timeless club favourite that spans 3 decades! There's an interesting background as to how it even came about...

It was actually Lonnie Gordon's very first vocal session. In 1997, an ambitious (and somewhat pushy) American girl, who had at this point only been doing live PA's (on both sides of the Atlantic), arrived at Heaven nightclub making her presence known to the then resident DJs, insisting that they listen to her sing and ultimately record a track with her. Not surprisingly, she got her way and after hearing Lonnie audition on the Heaven stage, Heaven's main resident, Marc Andrews invited her to try out one of his favourite songs, The Walker Brothers' 'No Regrets'. In a makeshift basement studio in West London, with a can of Skol in one hand and a Benson & Hedges in the other, she recorded the song in just
one take!

This was how Quartzlock took form and how Marc Andrews began his incredible career as a remixer and producer. It also kick started Lonnie's career as well. Originally released in 1988 on Ian Levine's Reflection label it sold fantastically well even being licensed to various European labels.

In 1989, along with fellow producers Rod Warren and Ian Terry, Marc and Lonnie worked together again recording the lads' self penned 'I Will Survive' inspired song 'Love Eviction' - again Lonnie gave a superb vocal performance. Many believe that these 2 Quartzlock tracks were Lonnie at her finest - even Lonnie herself regards these 2 tracks as important milestones in her career. On the back of the 2 Quartzlock releases, Lonnie was soon gigging wherever she could - gaining a superb reputation for her fierce powerhouse live performances... with as much stage presence and attitude as Grace Jones. It wasn't long before label owner Nick East had signed her to his Supreme label and teamed Lonnie up with the legendary writing/production team Stock Aitken & Waterman.

The rest, of course, is Pop history!

'No Regrets' has been remixed for 2007 by top remix team Club Junkies. Still maintaining that euphoric NRG feel, this new version gives a big nod to all previous Quartzlock versions of the song yet it retains a House edge suitable for today's tastes. Italian producer Marco Gee strips the vocal down and adds a punchy bassline for all cooler House tastes. All previous remixes of the song are presented on this special collector's edition, including the previously unreleased mix that Marc Andrews produced (and made popular) while resident at Love Muscle, the gay superclub at the Fridge in Brixton.

'No Regrets' completes Almighty's series of Quartzlock reissues.
