CILLA BLACK 'TOP SELLING FEMALE STAR OF THE SIXTIES'

by Mr. K » Wed Jun 02, 2010 5:17 pm

The BBC have just this week announced that Cilla Black's "Anyone Who Had A Heart" was the best selling record by a female recording artist in the 1960s. Cilla out-sold hits by Frank Sinatra — 'My Way', Gerry & The Pacemakers — 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and Elvis Presley — 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?' .

The only other solo female artist to even make the 'Top 60' biggest 60s records was Mary Hopkin. I though it was very surprising not to see Dusty, Lulu or even Sandie Shaw present as they had some good singles out during this decade.

Almighty Records have done a superb remix of Cilla's "Anyone Who Had A Heart" this can be found on their ALMIGHTY ESSENTIALS - VOLUME ONE album. :D

Great news for and about Cilla!

Almighty is very grateful for the public exposure on television and the support that Cilla Black and her team gave us. The mixes we produced for her drew attention once again to The Almighty Brand. Never before have we been given so many public name checks so often on TV. It was a real pleasure for us to be invited to meet her at the BBC where she was filming for another TV show.

The mixes introduced her to a new audience and also gave her loyal fans something else to enjoy for her anniversary. The first competition we did for the limited edition promos of Cilla, were probably the most subscribed ever.

The Almighty remixes of "Step Inside Love" and "Something Tells Me" are one of my faves of recent years. Timeless. :D

"We've been a huge fan of Cilla Black's work and it was an absolute privilege to work on the Cilla remixes for her 45th anniversary album back in 2008. The tracks were a huge success for us at Almighty and we look forward to recreating the hype around her 50th anniversary album with two brand new Almighty mixes, where one of which we commissioned Matt Pop to produce." - Almighty Records

The 50th Anniversary album is out today: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E ... chmusic-21

You can relive our popular remixes here:

Step Inside Love (Almighty Edit) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhQGkCUMDyE

Something Tells Me (Almighty Edit) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy3Sm_xUCbk

The new Almighty mixes are available as Radio Edits on Cilla's new album and Almighty will be releasing the full club mixes next year!
